Directions from Airports

Once on the A1 autostrada exit BETTOLE VALDICHIANA, after the toll gate turn right and, at the second round-about, take the Superstrada (75 bis) towards Perugia for approximately 12 kilometres.

Exit at Cortona/Montepulciano, follow signs for Camucia/Cortona for approximately 8 kilometres; at Camucia follow signs for Mercatale for approximately 15 kilometres.

Before arriving at Mercatale turn left for Pierle Castle (Rocca di Pierle) and pass the castle and the 11th century Church of San Biagio and after 100 meters on you right hand side follow the small wooden sign for Borgo di Vagli.

Take the unsealed road (unpaved) for 2 kilometres. Please be advised, although there are passing points, the road is narrow in some areas and you may meet other cars coming in the opposite direction; in this regard we advise you to blow your horn when approaching corners.

The last 2 kilometres (1.25 miles) to Borgo di Vagli is only accessible along the track of the original medieval unpaved path in a protected area of natural beauty. In these areas drastic improvements are very limited by law (i.e. asphalt forbidden).
